Sustainable Product Design Initiative – Furniture / Industrial Designer

Curious is a collection of special design-led projects, leveraging creativity to push boundaries and explore new possibilities. Curious is seeking a designer with expertise or strong interest in furniture and/or industrial design to explore the potential of sustainable materials in developing a stool or chair prototype.

You’ll work remotely as part of a small team, with the potential to collaborate alongside 1–2 other designers working on related projects, such as wearable and packaging design.

What You’ll Do

• Research and experiment with sustainable materials to assess scalability and usability for furniture and product applications.
• Design and develop a stool or chair prototype, balancing form, function, and sustainability.
• Explore ergonomic considerations, material properties, and innovative approaches to furniture design.
• Contribute to creative problem-solving, pushing boundaries to bring the product closer to market readiness.

Ideal Candidate

• A self-starter with experience or strong interest in furniture design, industrial design, or related disciplines.
• Passionate about sustainability and creating impactful solutions through design.
• Open-minded and collaborative, with a strong drive to innovate and explore new ideas.
• Excited to work independently while contributing to a supportive, creative team environment.

• Compensation: $20+/hour.
• Hours: Part-time, flexible schedule.
